Silk Velvet
The Art of Ronghua 绒花

1,400 Years
in Each Thread

Ronghua — "velvet flower" — was once reserved for imperial courts. Each brooch is shaped from natural silk using techniques passed down through Nanjing's centuries-old workshops.

01

Silk Preparation

Raw silk is dyed in natural pigments, then hand-twisted into velvet threads.

02

Petal Shaping

Each petal is individually bent and shaped over bone tools — no two alike.

03

Assembly

Petals are bound with gold wire and mounted onto a sterling brooch pin.
